Two things decide whether gear fits: the weight of the glove, and the cut of the garment. This page covers both. If you would rather just try it on, everything here is on the shelf at both gyms.

Which weight do I need?

Boxing gloves are sized by weight in ounces, not by hand size. Heavier gloves carry more padding, which protects the person you are hitting as much as it protects you.

  • 8 oz - juniors and smaller adults, for bag work and pads. This is the pair most kids classes start on.
  • 10 oz - the everyday adult glove for pads and bag work, and the standard competition weight for most amateur divisions.
  • 16 oz - sparring. The extra padding is there to look after your training partner, and most gyms will not let you spar in anything lighter.

If you train two or three times a week and you spar, 16 oz is the pair to own. If you only hit pads and bags, 10 oz is enough.

Shin guards

Our shin guards run XS to XXL and are sized to your build, not to your shoe size. Take the size you would normally take in a t-shirt and you will be right in almost every case. If you sit between two sizes, take the larger one, because a guard that is slightly long is safe and a guard that is short leaves the top of the foot exposed.

A guard that fits sits just below the knee and covers the instep with the foot flexed. It should not slide when you check a kick. If it slides after two rounds, it is too big.

Hand wraps

Our wraps are 5 metres, which is one length for adults and juniors alike. Five metres is long enough to wrap the wrist properly rather than just padding the knuckles, which is the joint that actually gets hurt. Buy two pairs. One is always in the wash.

Muay Thai pants and fight shorts

Cut to competition proportions, which means a wider leg and a higher split than gym shorts so the leg can travel. Take your normal size. The waist is elasticated with a drawstring, so there is room either side of a perfect fit.

Tees, singlets and crew necks

Most of our apparel is cut oversized or relaxed on purpose, with a dropped shoulder and a wider body. That is the look it is designed for.

  • For the oversized look it is designed for, take your normal size.
  • For a closer, more fitted look, take one size down.
  • If you are between sizes, take the larger one. These pieces are meant to hang.

Crop tops and crop tanks are cut short by design and sit above the waistband.

Still not sure
